We make films that cross borders.
From Lima and Cologne, we produce visual and emotional cinema,
with its own identity and international projection.
Zorro Films
Zorro Films is an independent film production company based in Lima with active connections in Germany. Founded by Peruvian-German filmmaker Martín Hawie, with over 20 years of experience in European cinema, Zorro Films was created to create films with a distinct identity, international quality, and a genuine connection with audiences.
We tell intimate, visual, and emotional stories that cross cultural boundaries. We combine local talent with professional networks in Europe to make films that reach audiences in Peru and around the world.
Our model combines artistic sensibility with a strategic vision: we strive to make each project a human experience, but also sustainable and accessible to broad audiences.

Martin Hawie CEO and Founder
I was born in Lima, into a family with Lebanese roots.

Over 25 years ago, I left Peru and spent more than 20 years living in Germany. I trained in Barcelona and Cologne, and today I work between Peru and Europe. I am Peruvian-German, and that dual identity shapes the way I see cinema: a blend of emotional intensity and narrative precision.

I studied Audiovisual Communication at IPP (Lima), then Directing and Screenwriting at ECIB (Barcelona), and finally completed a postgraduate program in film at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (Cologne).

I work as a director, screenwriter, and producer, developing films and projects that cross borders, cultures, and emotions. My films have been presented at international festivals such as Berlinale, Shanghai, Guadalajara, Montreal, and Rome, among others.

I believe in cinema born from the intersection of places, languages, and memories. That is where I find the stories I want to tell.

«Martin Hawie narrates an odyssey in black and white images, desolate settings and a disturbing soundscape, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the Oscar-winning Moonlight.
However, this one achieves an even greater emotional closeness, thanks to the masterful performances of its characters.

«Future is a Lonely Place is something of a perfect dystopia, (…) a kind of Blade Runner set in a German prison environment, with a deeply ambivalent protagonist and an apocalyptic climax at the end.»
— Rbb Kultur

"You don't need color to create intense images. Director Martin Hawie has impressively demonstrated this with his feature film 'Toro'."
— Frankenpost

Press and reviews
"The film "Camille" is delicately and artfully crafted, with a female perspective told with great subtlety. The images are powerful, clear, and beautiful, and they support the narrative impressively."
— International Film Festival in Mexico
«A great German genre film like this is all too rare: (...) they immerse their bitter prison and revenge drama in appropriately dark tones, while all the actors and actresses convince as increasingly desperate anti-heroes.»
— Film Festival Cologne
"Unusual, demanding, and also relentless. With a sensational cast. 'Toro' is the new German cinema."
— Hessischer Rundfunk
"Guilt and Punishment: This film is a raw prison drama, the likes of which are rarely seen in German cinema. And it stands out for its three strong leads."
— Berliner Morgen Post
"A dramatic thriller that sounds simple, but is surprisingly complex and deeply thoughtful. The lead trio is excellent, always completely believable."
— Bild Zeitung
«A great German genre film like this is all too rare: (...) they immerse their bitter prison and revenge drama in appropriately dark tones, while all the actors and actresses convince as increasingly desperate anti-heroes.»
— Tagesschau – The film section
«Dark, absorbing, relentless: a melancholic exploration disguised as a revenge thriller.»
— IFF Mannheim Heidelberg
«The ending that Martin Hawie (...) proposes for his trio of characters confirms, through its harshness and forcefulness, that this is not an action that is easy to digest, but rather a serious confrontation with broken characters and the bitter consequences of their actions.»
